Yeah I tried harem pants...

So I was at H&M a few days ago (after I purchased my fabulous white pants :)) and stumbled upon the harem pants.  First question that came to mind: was I that girl?  You know the uber trendy at the cusp of fashion never missed a trend girl?  Not so much.  When you are constantly on the Club Monaco or J Crew websites, browsing for looks and ideas, you know that fashionista is not how you should describe yourself.  As I walked away from the pants, I ran my fingers on the fabric.  Hmmm...was that jersey?  So I tried them on.  Just as I thought, I looked ridiculous.  First of all I do not have the body type for a pouffy pair of cropped pants (I did not think my hips -which I normally swing with pride- could be this wide, and is it me or did I just shrink by an inch or 2?).  Secondly, the pants were too trendy.  I hate being too
out of the box and rocking this number in downtown Montreal would surely garner a few snickers.  Needless to say these pants were not for me.  Maybe in 6 months or so, Ill reconsider.  If you are feeling MC Hammerish, here are a few selections.  Oh and the H&M ones were like $15-$20 Cdn- thats a steal if you swing that way :D

White Denim For Summer

I bought a pair of white jeans a few days ago and with the risk of sounding too dramatic- I feel that said denim has changed my life forever...ok well maybe not forever but for at least the next few weeks.  Before this pair of jeans, my bottoms were always dark (think black pants, leggings or dark denim jeans). Therefore, everything I wore with these bottoms always looked the same, day in and day out.  By adding a different color to the mix, all of a sudden my greys looked so fresh and so clean.  My fuschia scarf regained its lustre.  My beige cardigan now channels country club cool.  Tops I had once thrown to the back of my closet, vowing  with my clenched fist in the air "I will never wear you again!" have been given a second chance at life.  I swear- all this because of my white jeans.  Its exciting- I am not gunna lie.  In case you wish to follow my lead- here are a few options.  Enjoy!

A Plethora of Fedoras

I have a friend of mine who started wearing one of these hats about 8 months ago.  I would mock him incessantly, claiming the whole hat look was done.  I pleaded that he never wear it when he was out with me- something about the look reminded me of that Jazz boyfriend Carrie dated during season 2 (??) of SATC for about a week.  It was so utterly cliche.  ugh.  But now, as the summer months are coming up and these fedoras are popping up more and more at your local retailer, I find my opinion changing.  I think I may need one to complete my summer wardrobe.  I can see it already- cut off shorts, tan sandals, a oversized white blouse, some cheap aviators and a fedora to complete the look.  I should probably tell my friend he was right after all :p
