Hats are all the rage this Fall. They look great with the bangs everyone seems to still be sporting and they are quite fetching with what seems to be a 40's revival in our wardrobe. Plus they keep your head warm in winter, which to be honest, is so crucial should you decide to live in such a cold country- I hate winter so much...so so very much...

Fall has presented us with a vast array of shoes that made us salivate profusely and gasp in unison “ooooh, so hhhhhottt!” The styles run the gamut from the stacked heel to the everlasting peep toe to the ever present flat (adorned with jewels, lined in gold trims, with a feather on the side…you name it, it’s there). But coming up from behind these all stars is the one I am the most iffy about. But then again my style is so plain Jane, I buy Gap Wide Leg Pants (which by the way are so fabulous especially if you have short legs because you discover ankle length pants-no hemming! and you realize that they make their sizes big so all of a sudden you are a size 2- the last time you were a size 2, you were 2! and they are so comfortable and there are even loops for your skinny belts and pockets so you can put your hands in them and casually look cool like in the ad as you wait for the bus in the a.m and you jump up and down in the change room and squeal with joy and are embarrassed when the...

W hen I was about 12 years old, I bought this pair of Guess Jelly shoes (you know, the clear ones). Even at a young age, I was trying to be practical with my purchases. Because the jelly shoes were clear, they matched with everything...how fantastic! Well I guess Mr. Marc Jacobs was reminiscing on the past (i.e. 1993) when he came up with his jellies (see top left). And now Aldo has also introduced this blast from the past. PART 2 JERSEY Here is a little bit of history for yalls: A little known designer by the name of Coco Chanel began making h er garments in jersey in the early 1920’s. A French fabric manufacturer, Rodier , introduced Chanel to this unpopular textile. A fabric that was once for underwear had now been transformed into daywear thanks to her revolutionary way of thinking. One of the first items made from jersey was a chic and simple tunic that fell just above the ankle. This was consistent with Chanel: a simple look that she advocated on herself. Jersey is still as popular now as it was then. The fabric is soft, the price is affordable (depending on the store) and it fits your curves nicely. Jersey is BIG this year in spring dresses. Prada had them. Marc Jacobs did too. Then it trickled down to the r etail world and ooh, look what we have here: H&M, le Chateau, Reitmans, Zara, Bedo, Simons all follow suit. Err-body is jumping on the dresses bandwagon! (Can I even use that as a term?). This Spring, I can GAR-RON-TEEEE that you will be bombarded and overwhelmed with dresses. I live in the cold. It is winter here from October to May. I hate the cold. I was born on an island and the very concept of not being able to wear open toe shoes in November makes me slightly uneasy. But there is this one itty bitty asp ect of winter dressing that makes it somewhat bearable: scarves. Love them and can’t get enough of them. Early on, I realized that a) outside in February without a scarf pretty much meant you were spending the rest of the week at home, watching the Price is Right and Days of Our Lives, eating chicken soup and b) scarves looked good. And I don’t mean the same way you try to justify that the big chunky yet warm boots are cool in a rocker chic kind of way. Scarves look fly even when you’ve taken your coat off. They look effortless. Leaving a scarf on with your regular outfit punches it up. In any case, I have them in all shapes, sizes and color. I am thrilled to see this year, an emergence in the trend.
