Happy fall!
Last winter as my fingers wore holes in the pockets of my old (but beloved) winter coat I vowed that next fall I would splurge and buy myself a new one. Now I am on the hunt for the perfect timeless coat to get me through the next few winter seasons. Would you be able to tell me what the hot styles are for this winter as well as what may weather (ha ha pun intended) the winter fashion seasons to come?Much appreciatedYour fellow fahsionista-Meriah

P.s. I live on Vancouver island where winter is more wet than winter so no need for heavy duty warmth.
Hey Meriah

Winter coats this season vary from brights to neutrals, ¾ sleeves to puffers, belted to hoods. There is a vast array to choose from. You are in the envious position of not having to deal with the brutal winters of Montreal (argh)… In any case, below you will find a few options- divided by Cheap vs. Steep of course… enjoy!

Hi,I'm a huge fan, love reading your blog!!!For me the hardest thing to dress for is house parties...you never know how fancy they are going to be...sometimes I show up in a dress and it turns out to be a laid back keg party, other times I'm in jeans and kicking myself that I'm not wearing a fab new dress. And of course the worst part is if it is a shoes off house--you need to plan an outfit that still looks good with bare feet. Any ideas? I have a couple coming up in November. Thanks & luv ya!

Laura

Hi Laura

I completely understand where you are coming from-argh. Finding the balance between too dressy and too comfy can be arduous. That’s why you need a middle ground. Oh and the shoe issue, I soooo know how you feel. You are all proud of some insane outfit you are rocking and then you get to a house where the hostess goes: "off with the shoes!" You are left barefoot at a party and what you are wearing seems to no longer make any sense. Lol. Ahhh the perils of fashion! In any case, I would suggest neither the dress nor the jeans as you could be over or under dressed (not sure which one is actually worse). If you must remove the shoes, then we need to find you an outfit that really speaks for itself, with or without something on your feet.

Here goes…

The Piped Blazer!

I am loving the piped blazer. Ever since Balenciaga re-introduced us school boy prep meets ethnic luxe, I have been all over the look and those fabulous piped blazers. I am currently in a battle within myself. Ill be moving to Costa Rica for a few months to learn Spanish. This move takes place in early November. Therefore, there is no point in me buying said blazer seeing as a) ill be jobless for a few months so I cannot spend $ and b) last I checked, there is no need for a blazer in a lazy Costa Rican beach town lest I try to channel the most out of place fashion diva everrrr. People may stare… what with their flip flops, denim shorts and tanks… I don’t even think they accessorize much- they are too busy surfing, admiring the rainforest and eating fresh fish... In any case, I have resorted to getting my fix of the piped blazer online. Various shapes, colors, and prices- oh my!
