A Plethora of Pretty Painted Pieces!
Whether it be the “oh look at me, I am a revolutionary artist, what with my random brush strokes print” or the throw a paint can on the wall, take note of the splatter print and consider it art in its utmost deepest form, fashion has gone paint happy. Move over Warhol, Picasso and (*insert relevant artist name here that makes me seem like I know more about art than I really do*), fashion is taking over the art world. Granted fashion and art are really one in of the same but I have yet to see a season with so much inspiration drawn from a simple paint brush and can of paint –please keep in mind that I have been following fashion for oh, about 5 seasons now so my experience would be considered, from those in the know, a tad limited. But still. The fashion magazines are calling this trend, therefore it must be true!

Shoptox is over!
Well the day finally arrived. I never thought I would make it but here I am: 40 days without having made a single clothing or cosmetics purchase. Obvious question to follow would be something like: how do you feel? Are you a better person for it? Will you go shopping now that this task is over? Answers are: fantastic, yes and of course!
I assumed shoptox would be difficult. After all, I read magazines constantly, work in downtown Montreal where pretty much any store is a few steps away and I work for magazines. My entire surrounding environment screams buy me! And yet, I was able to resist.
With this shopt tox comes a few advantages: I was able to save some money. I also feel like my mind is clear of some clutter. I have less in my closet and therefore getting ready in the morning is that much easier. With the step back I have taken from constant shopping, I now have a clearer idea of what I will want to purchase next time I hit the stores (i.e.: ASAP). Seriously, this shoptox is good and all, but girl needs a new going out top for this weekend! Later ;)

Once again, I <3 J. Crew
It’s interesting when chemistry and mutual understanding unite. I have a soft spot for accessories, always have, always will. My shopping trips (minus these last 38 days but who’s counting) tend to revolve around yet another basic white tank top and a new scarf, necklace or bracelet- imagine if I had my ears pierced, I would need to mortgage the condo I don’t own.
I have always had a deep and profound love for J Crew. I proclaimed my love a few months ago when they showed me their cocktail rings.
Can you imagine my frantic excitement today, while browsing Fabsugar, I came across their posting on J. Crew’s new Only Accessories catalogue? I almost passed out from love. Granted the pieces are not in the same price range as your Forever 21 pendants and bangles but where else can you get a stunning turquoise and gold necklace that will outshine anyone and anything?
The United States are in uncertain times. When former Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan says “the current financial crisis in the U.S. is likely to be judged in retrospect as the most wrenching since the end of the Second World War," people should panic. J. Crew seems to be going against the current. WWD reported on March 11th that their opening earnings and sales were up sharply in final three months of year. They must be doing something right. If anything, they are doing something right in my heart.
With my shop tox coming to an end, I have had the time and opportunity to really focus on what I want to wear this spring/summer without the unnecessary clutter of pieces I do not need. I do believe that my wardrobe will revolve around their accessories line. And to answer all the skeptics out there, no this is not a sponsored posting. It’s true love.

Why Don't You...wear a vest with a tube top?
En hommage to Diana Vreeland's legendary Harper's Bazaar column, Why Don't You pair a tube top with a vest? That way, you have the chillaxed outfit for dinner and can easily hop to some bar or club with your tube top underneath? eh? who's with me now? anyone? :)
