The denim jacket is a great add on to this spring's wardrobe. The faded-ness works wonders with the reappearance of boho chic we are seeing these days. Paired with a printed max or a a floral mini, roll up the sleeves slightly and you are good to go! enjoy :)
Hi! I've been following your blog now for about a year, and I really love it! I'm getting close to college graduation now, and I am just lucky enough to have landed a super-important interview in NYC. I'm totally clueless as to what I should wear, so I was hoping you might be able to offer some advice. Here's the dirt: - the interview/job is in NYC - it's for a graphic design firm, so I need something artsy yet chic - my current style is a mix of basics, favorite stores are gap, old navy, and j. crew - i want something that stands out, and i'm not afraid of color or prints & i love accessories!! - i'm 5'7, but very curvy (so basically, i'm not a size 4.. more like 14) Thanks so much!! i hope to hear from you!!! - Nervous & Clueless in RI
Hi
Ok first of all- good luck on the interview!
Below, I have 2 outfits for you. The first is a sleeveless number. Seeing as you will be working in a more creative and less uptight environment, the sleeveless-ness should not be an issue. However, if you do not feel comfortable with that, I have an 2nd option for you below. The top is nice and printy and the skirt is high waisted. If you want to dress it up a bit more, layer on a blazer.
This spring, shirt dresses are a must have. There is so much you can do with one. Paired with a skinny tan belt, layered over leggings, worn with motorcycle boots, the options are endless!
I must admit that I did not see this one coming. The popularity of canvas shoes in Montreal is staggering. I can't say for the rest of the Canadian or American cities but right here, right now, it seems to be the must have shoe. This spring, apparently canvas is the new converse. Worn with the ubiquitous leather bomber and a pair of skinny jeans, you could not be more March-April 2009 :P Enjoy!
If you have glanced through any fashion magazine in the last few months, you have surely seen the YSL shoes upon display in any and every editorial. Everyone is going a bit nuts over said shoes. They are quite yummy but I am not feeling that hefty price tag. Here are a few that are not THE YSL's but hey come on, they still look hawwwtt! enjoy!

As a Canadian, I think its really important to highlight the peeps that are doing an excellent job on a fantabulous site! Get your Divine fix at Divine.ca. Enjoy!
Ok, ok I know the belts are ridiculously expensive ($490 gasp!). But think of it this way- they are investment pieces, guaranteed to be worn throughout the next oh, like 6 seasons I assure you. The dresses are not super versatile, esp if you are a Montrealer like myself. I can wear a dress like this for about 2 weeks with this weather we have here. But the belt, by golly I can pair it with pretty much anything but the kitch sink in spring, summer, fall and the dreaded winter months. Yay!
There is not much that will make you stand out in a crowd like a zebra print dress. Belt it, layer it, wear it with red pumps or some insane gladiator sandal. Its a refreshing update to the strapless black dresses that we all have too many of anyways.
I love to live in that little box of mine- you know what I am talking about. Its a place where I gravitate between white, grey and black with the odd dark denim skinny jeans added to the mix. I focus on my accessories to add spark to my outfit. And when I want to channel a french fashion editor or any Luck How To shopping spread, I just go for the allover black- bf blazer, booties, skinny jeans, and the ubiquitous white tank top. But how about stepping out of that box to see what else is out there? How about stepping out where the sun is shinning and color is everywhere? Spring is slowing coming our way and I say we put aside the black/gray combos and work with color. Adding colorful pieces to a wardrobe is easier than we think- check out Rachel and Kate for some inspiration. Enjoy! :) Where to Shop Sunglasses T Shirt Blazer Boots V Neck Sweater Leggings
It seems to me these days that we want a pair of boyfriend jeans more than an actual boyfriend. The fit is casual, effortless and can be worn with a pair of flats as well as your peep toe strappies. In these trying times of recession chic, versatility is key and what better way to expand ones wardrobe than with a pair of boyfriend jeans? So... drumroll please!! I am so excited to announce that Chickdowtown and Lookbook are partnering for our very first reader giveway- you could win a pair of Current/Elliott jeans! Entry is simple. Just email me at thelookbook@gmail.com with suggestions on what you would like to see more of on Lookbook, what you love, and the iffy stuff. Winner will be selected at random (ie: eenie, meenie, miney moe style). Jeans can only be shipped anywhere in the U.S. Contest ends March 12th. Good luck!! Special thanks to Chickdowntown!! Be sure to check them out as they are the largest online retailer of Black Halo . . and their impressive list of designers includes CC Skye, Elizabeth and James, Rory Beca, See by Chloe and Genetic Denim (just to name a few)! Hi, As you know, spring break is just around the corner and I'm in desperate need of several great outfit ideas for spring break! Preferably, a "beach outfit", "lounge outfit", "dinner outfit" and "going-out outfit" I'm looking now to stock up on some great deals and styles, however, I need to know what's in and what's out! Thank you so much, and love, love, love your blog!!!
Hey! Thanks for reading Lookbook. Ok ok, I am getting incredibly excited for spring!! I am also very much getting ahead of myself- what with the -27 weather we are having in Montreal. Regardless, when the weather warms up here, people get a little crazy. Good moods are in abundance. What's there to frown about? We have been hibernating for oh, what, like 8 months so spring is time to go a little wild. This year seems to be extra special (but then again I seem to think that every year). Some trends that I am excited about: Nude Booties Clutches Strapless Dresses Boyfriend Blazers Cut Off Jeans worn at night with heels
In essence this spring is all about a chill and relaxed mood (should you choose to avoid the floral route that's also big this year) with a dash of the masculine pieces. Oh and don't forget your distressed denim (aka boyfriend jeans) Yay Spring!
Take a look at the various outfits provided below. I went super cheap with the prices. All pieces are very versatile and outfits can be switched around. Oh, one more thing- you prob need a few white and black tank tops.
Hello!I am going to be graduating high school soon and need one outfit for under the graduation gown itself and one outfit for the party the next day. I want to look grown up but still fashionable. Can you please help? Thank you!
