Reader Request! What To Wear with the Figure Skater Dress?!
hi there, love your blog! i know that you take reader request and hoping greatly that you can help me figure out what to do with a piece that has been sitting in my closet for months....actually nearly a year! i purchased the ice-skater dress in charcoal from american apparel the day it debuted! i was so obsessed with it i just had to have it.....i wore it around the house all day, but really had (actually have) no idea what to do with it? do i wear a jacket? a vest? heals? boots? flats? tights? can i wear it in the day and night? help!!!!!any advise would be greatly appreciated!
hmm... I can see how this dress could be a toughie. What to wear? What to wear? I would say all of the above. This dress works in the summer with a pair of flats and in the winter when you layer away. You know what else would look great with this dress? A nice wide belt at the seam where the top and skirt portion meet. Congrats on selecting a perfectly versatile color! Check out below a few outfit suggestions:

Reader Request! What to wear with White Pumps...
Hello, I love your blog! I just discovered it yesterday and have been on it all day today and I need your help. I bought these white snake-print stiletto pumps from VS (http://www2.victoriassecret.com/images/prodpri2/V275187.jpg) and I love them, but am almost regretting the purchase because I can't seem to figure out what to wear it with without it looking too 80s. Could you please lead me in the right direction on what I could wear these heels with, preferably something polished with a little edge? Thanks much!!
Hi
OK so I feel your pain! I too have been in a similar white pump predicament arghghghgh. You want to avoid looking too matchy matchy (ie white pumps with the white belt and white purse which inadvertently puts you smack dab as a Don't in Glamour) and yet you dont want to be too outside the box (ie white pumps, snakeskin pants and some hot pink tube top once again leading you to be a Don't). Its hard to find that balance between "No really, I tried way to hard" to "Oh this old outfit, it's ok I guess...but groundbreaking you say? wow, thanks!". That being said, here are a few option provided below. What yalls think? Could I have spiced it up a bit? Is it perfection or yeah not so much?

Reader Request! What to Wear with the Little Black Dress (LBD)
Hello, can you help me? I am going to semi-formal academic function/dinner/wine reception, and as a college student, I live in jeans, sweaters, t-shirt, layers. I consider my look pretty down to earth with a bit of trend. I know how to dress up jeans, but I have no idea how to dress up without wearing jeans. I am kind of curvy, and young, and so I want to wear something trendy, youthful, but mature at the same time without looking frumpy or "too sexy." Can you help by suggesting a few pieces that can layer and go together well? Thank you!
Hi
For situations such as a semi-formal function, I would suggest the classic LBD (little black dress) and work around that with accessories.
You can pretty much do anything with the LBD
1) layer a blazer over it with the sleevs rolled up slightly for that cool vibe
2) wear it with pearls for a more sophisticated look
3) layer some cool necklaces
4) wear it with a scarf
5) you can add some textured hosiery
6) pair it with some statement shoes
Anyways, that would be my first suggestion.
If the LBD is not your thing, how about some wide leg dark denim jeans/ trousers. It is like you are wearing jeans but the shape and the color helps you get away with wearing it to something semi formal. These jeans work wonders for a curvy girl (like you and me). I would suggest always wearing it with heels and really working the top part of your outfit.
This is the time to bring out your costume jewelry if you have any and pairing it with a fitted with shirt (collar up for that extra oomph). If the button down shirt aint your thang, why not a tube top fitted corset (in a nice jewel tone...oooh) or a graphic print top. Keep the shoes high and simple.

My Current Covetable Piece
I have been extremely fortunate these past few months. I escaped the bitter Montreal cold and am enjoying the warmth that Miami and Costa Rica have to offer. These locations have also given me the opportunity to work on my tan which means that my once pasty-ish color has been transformed into a bronzey hue. Now what better way to show off this tan than with my most recent covetable piece: the yellow bikini. Like a craving for fries after a night out drinking and dancing, I just cannot get it out of my mind. There is, however, a slight conundrum. Being jobless for the last few months and living off my "fast like lightning who would have thought money could just disappear so quickly guess ill need to cut this quarter life crisis short" savings, this bikini needs to be cheap. Here are a few of my online faves. enjoy!
