PART 2 JERSEY Here is a little bit of history for yalls: A little known designer by the name of Coco Chanel began making h er garments in jersey in the early 1920’s. A French fabric manufacturer, Rodier , introduced Chanel to this unpopular textile. A fabric that was once for underwear had now been transformed into daywear thanks to her revolutionary way of thinking. One of the first items made from jersey was a chic and simple tunic that fell just above the ankle. This was consistent with Chanel: a simple look that she advocated on herself. Jersey is still as popular now as it was then. The fabric is soft, the price is affordable (depending on the store) and it fits your curves nicely. Jersey is BIG this year in spring dresses. It's Spring '07, and in every store, women's clothes are influenced by men. This was an apparent trend on many of the runways (Alexander McQueen, Prada, Vicktor&Rolf, Morphine Generation) Houndstooth / Weed / Pinstripe is everywhere - and is no longer just for men - or even just for fall. It is printed in blouses, T-shirts, and woven into decorative scarves, hats, and pea coats. Yet, it still gives a strong sense of feminity in the tailored silhouette. Splash an accent color like yellow and you'll look sharp. Accessories (headbands/scarves/ hats) can be easily found at Aldo. Available at Le Chateau, urban behavior, Costa Blanca, H&M, Jacob. Ok so Chanel has this bag. It retails for approxima tely $849.00 on Ebay. For this brand, you would think it to be a reasonable price for maybe a small chained purse right? Or maybe a version of what Penelope Cruz has been seen carrying out and about town. Not so much. It’s this plastic bag that looks like the one you were given by your mom when, at age 6, you decided you too wanted a purse, lipstick and shoulder pads…we all had one of those. But Chanel deems it appropriate to make one, and sell one for $849.00 . But then again…this is Chanel. If they could sell designer air, they would…or have they done that already?
